Both the video and the photo are of me playing tennis, which is the thing I like to do the most. I tried to include Midland in the graphics, since that’s my team. Tennis has been in my life since a young age, I started playing when I was only 7. Years later, at 14, I was one of the best in Portugal, so I started investing more time. When I was 18, I stopped playing and started working, in an events company, all around my country.
Two years later, I found out about scholarships in the US for sports so I started playing again and then, competing again. Coach Bruno, from Midland, contacted me, and we got along since the start, the fact that we speak the same language helped a lot. Some months later I signed with Midland, and two years and a half after signing, here I am, writing this post for my marketing class blog.
Now that I have lived the college experience in the US, I highly suggest it to every single athlete in the world that has the opportunity to do so. Coming here, getting a great education, stepping out of our comfort zone, discovering a new culture and new people, becoming a better version of ourselves, growing up as humans. This is one of the best opportunities I have ever had and I know that a lot of other opportunities will appear because of my experience in the US. Tennis is fantastic here, the environment is great, a lot of people come to the matches to supports us. We are lucky to have one of the best teams in the conference, which makes us very competitive and good enough for most of the schools in our league, nation wise.
In short, playing tennis gave me the opportunity to come to the US, get an education and become a better me, and I can only than everybody in this journey, that has helped me become the person I am today.
