I would start by setting a goal for the first month on social media, in terms of views, followers, clicks, likes and comments. Then, I would have to do some research about the audience I’m targeting, what their social media habits are: at what time are they most active online? What social media networks/websites do they use the most? What is their tolerance regarding posts, do they like more or less posts? What kind of posts are they into (video, promotions, photos, etc)? My next step would be to analyze my competition, take a look at what they are doing, how they interact with their followers/customers, how many posts do they post on a weekly basis? All this information would help me a lot to build a strong social media account for my business.

These first steps will give me some information on how to post, when to post and how to deal with my followers/clients. After these, I will have to carefully choose what products to show in my social media accounts, for two main reasons: price- if the products that I post are too expensive, people will think they can’t afford them. If they are too cheap, people will think that my brand is not valuable enough. Even though many companies don’t show the price in their social media, if people are interested they will eventually research the products and find out about the prices. The second reason is related to how original and rare my products are, because if many other companies are selling similar products, my business will just become “another one” in people’s minds.
My approach on creating a social media account will depend on which websites/networks I will be using because obviously, it is harder to promote my products on twitter than it is on instagram or Facebook. Therefore, I would have twitter just to be present, knowing what’s going on, what trends are more popular at the moment. On the other hand, I would use Facebook and Instagram to promote my products and my brand, as well as taking advantage of ads.
