Auditing an organization was a learning experience, but we were still in the first steps, which made it a really simple exercise. In our first meet with the client, we started by introducing ourselves by saying our names, majors, year in school and what sport we play. After our presentation, the client introduced himself as well as his business’ history, how it all started, how it is managed, who is in charge and what services/products they provide. These two steps were important so we could get to know each other.
After, we started asking a few questions, such as: what social media platforms did his company use? What are his main goals regarding social media? How important has social been in terms of expansion and exposure of his company? We visited the pages that they already had, made a quick data check in terms of followers/likes, posts and engagement.
In this first step, we learned a few things regarding our client’s business, how he runs it and what his goals are for social media use. Since his social media platforms are not developed as much as it could, we just collected some information. We, as a group, will think of ways to upgrade it and make it more engaging, as well as trying to reach the most people we can. Since it is one of those services that people are not really excited about or even expecting, it is hard to find a lot of followers, because most people will not want to. But, at the same time, it is good to know who to call in case of an emergency.
Next time, to improve this experience there are two things that could be improved: 1) the client should try to be as informed as he could about his social media platforms because our client didn’t take care of that part of the business and the person that did wasn’t able to come; 2) we could have had a meeting prior to that auditing, where we could have prepared a little bit better.
Overall, it was a good experience both for the client and our team, I feel like we made some progress, but there is still a lot that can be accomplished and improved.
